About these numbers
Figures on this page count management certificates filed with the Texas Real Estate Commission under Property Code §209.004 (SB 1588), published on the Texas Open Data Portal and refreshed daily. Amended certificates are de-duplicated to one record per association and county.
TREC is a repository, not an enforcement agency: associations that have not filed do not appear, and industry estimates suggest one in five Texas associations is still missing. County totals are therefore a floor, not a census of every association that exists. Where a filing's county field was blank or invalid, HOA Census assigns the county from the association's Texas mailing ZIP code (Census ZCTA-to-county mapping); see methodology.
